tipti

Tipti is a grocery delivery platform born in Ecuador and now operating in several countries, with hundreds of thousands of users ordering from local supermarkets. As Frontend Lead I drove the front-end of the Tipti and Tipti Shopper platforms, guiding the technology transition from Ionic and Angular to Flutter and Next.js, later consolidating on Nuxt.js. I defined the architecture, UI/UX guidelines and coding standards for the engineering team, and implemented CI/CD pipelines on AWS that cut production issues by over 40%.

When David Gavilanez joined as Frontend Lead, Tipti's e-commerce and mobile platforms ran on Ionic v1 and Angular v2, a stack that made every new feature slower and riskier to ship. He guided the technology transition to Flutter and Next.js and later consolidated the web platform on Nuxt.js, covering both the consumer-facing Tipti app and Tipti Shopper, the tool used by the personal shoppers who fulfil each order.

Beyond the migration he defined the front-end architecture, the UI/UX guidelines and the coding standards the engineering team worked with, and implemented CI/CD pipelines on AWS. He also represented the platform outwards: Tipti ran a technology conference for selected groups, presenting the stack, conventions and engineering flow behind the product. The results were measurable: production issues dropped by more than 40% while the platform grew into a multi-country operation serving hundreds of thousands of users. Leading that front end, and training the team that would keep those standards alive, shaped how he still runs engineering teams today. The stack he standardised there, Nuxt.js, Flutter and Next.js with TailwindCSS on AWS, still frames how he evaluates front-end platforms.
